§ 10-19. Municipal court technology fund.
(a)
As authorized by Article 102.0172 of the Texas Code of Criminal Procedure, there is hereby created a Municipal Court Technology Fund. Each defendant convicted of a misdemeanor offense in the municipal court shall pay a four dollars ($4.00) technology fee as a cost of court, which fee shall be deposited in the city treasury to the credit of the fund.
(b)
The fund created in subsection (a) shall be administered by or under the direction of the city council and may be used only to finance the purchase of technological enhancements for the municipal court including:
(1)
Computer systems;
(2)
Computer networks;
(3)
Computer hardware;
(4)
Computer software;
(5)
Imaging systems;
(6)
Electronic kiosks;
(7)
Electronic ticket writers; and
(8)
Docket management systems.
(c)
The fund created in subsection (a) applies to a cost on convictions for offenses committed on or after September 1, 1999, and the same will expire on September 1, 2005.
