§ 12-50. Application for registration.

  • (a)

    To secure a certificate of registration as a qualified and competent electrician in any of the classes set out in this article, an application shall be made in writing and addressed to the building department. The application shall show the applicant's name and such other information as may be prescribed by the department, and shall be made out on forms available in the building department.

    (b)

    Applicants for a certificate as electrical contractor, lighting maintenance contractor, elevator and escalator contractor, or building maintenance operator shall file with the application an affidavit, setting forth the names of the person or persons who are the owners of the business or who are the officers of the firm who own the business and the name and address of the person who shall be responsible for the business. The applicants shall appear in person if requested by the building department and be examined as provided in this chapter.

    (c)

    Applicants for an examination as master electrician shall show evidence as being qualified in the electrical field or a graduate of a recognized technical school or college, and shall file with the application an affidavit showing that such applicant is not less than twenty-one (21) years of age and shall have had at least two (2) years experience as a journeyman electrician. Applicants shall apply at the building department in person and be examined as provided in this chapter.

    (d)

    Applicants for a certificate as maintenance electrician or specialist electrician shall apply in person at the building department and be examined as prescribed in this chapter.
