§ 12-148. Local restrictions.
The following provisions shall prevail and be controlling within the city in the event of any conflict therewith and the provisions of the electrical code adopted by the provisions of this article:
(1)
Minimum size of conductors: Whether solid or stranded shall not be smaller than twenty (20) amp rated, except for control circuits, flexible cords, fixture wire and signal circuits.
(2)
Open wiring in (or on) insulators: Shall be permitted only by special permission.
(3)
Concealed knob and tube wiring: Shall not be permitted in any installation.
(4)
Metal clad cable: Types "MC" and "AC" cable shall not be approved for installation in concealed locations.
(5)
Nonmetallic sheathed cable: Shall be limited to single-family dwellings and multiple-family dwellings.
(6)
Service entrance cable shall not be used for meter services.
(7)
Underground feeder and branch circuit cable, Type "UP": Shall follow the same regulations as per exception Number 5.
(8)
Service entrance cable, Type "USE": Shall not be approved for direct burial installations.
(9)
Minimum groundling electrode shall be five-eighths ( 5/8 ) inch by eight (8) feet copper clad.
(10)
Temporary power poles and temporary power and light permits shall expire at the end of ninety (90) days or at the completion of work for which it was issued whichever occurs first.
