Chapter 13½. FLOODPLAIN MANAGEMENT STANDARDS |
Article I. GENERAL PROVISIONS |
§ 13½-1. Finding of facts.
(a)
The City Council of the City of Eagle Pass, Maverick County, Texas, finds that the potential and/or actual damages from flooding and erosion may be a problem to the residents of the City of Eagle Pass and that such damages may include: destruction and loss of private and public housing, damage to public facilities, both publicly and privately owned, and injury to and loss of human life.
(b)
The flood hazard areas of Eagle Pass are subject to periodic inundation which results in loss of life and property, health and safety hazards, disruption of commerce and governmental services, and extraordinary public expenditures for flood protection and relief, all of which adversely affect the public health, safety and general welfare. In order to minimize the threat of such damages and to achieve the purposes and objectives hereinafter set forth, this local chapter is adopted.
