§ 19.5-132. Insurance requirements.

  • (a)

    All operators shall maintain or cause to be maintained public liability insurance and insurance coverage on their employees, agents, and contractors (or require such insurance to be maintained), in addition to required workmen's compensation insurance, in the following minimum amounts:

    (1)

    Comprehensive general liability insurance. Public liability (bodily injury) insurance with limits of not less than three hundred thousand dollars ($300,000.00) for each person, and for each accident in the aggregate;

    (2)

    Public liability (property damage) insurance with limits of not less than one hundred thousand dollars ($100,000.00) for each accident and one hundred thousand dollars ($100,000.00) for any number of accidents;

    (3)

    Umbrella insurance for the amount of three million dollars ($3,000,000.00).

    Said insurance policies shall name the city as an additional named insured. The coverage in such insurance policies shall be approved by the city and may only exclude as a risk damage to the reservoir and pollution.

    (b)

    The operator may furnish the planning department with an insurance certificate showing that the operator has insurance to cover the expense of "well out of control" with no limits as to cost.
