§ 20-26. Permit required.

  • It shall be unlawful for any person to solicit or obtain alms or gifts for any person, charitable organization, patriotic organization, or philanthropic organization, or to promote or participate in any entertainment, fair or bazaar in the name of charity, patriotism, or philanthropy, or to solicit or accept gifts or any property for any religious or missionary purpose, except by such organization on its own premises, without first obtaining a permit approved by the chief of police or his designee. The chief of police or his designee shall designate from time to time at least one (1) area of public property, within the city limits, which may be used to conduct charitable solicitations.
