§ 23-2. Purpose.

  • This chapter is adopted for the purpose of protecting and promoting the health, safety, morals and general welfare of the community and to achieve the safe, orderly and helpful urban development through land subdivision of undeveloped areas within the city and its extraterritorial jurisdiction by providing for lots of sufficient size, to provide for adequate improvements and facilities, and appropriate design for the purpose for which they are used; by the provision, construction and installation of streets, easements, alleys, sidewalks, public utilities and other facilities, by providing uniformity of street width, access to lands, minimization of traffic congestion and safety hazards, and prevention of the subdivision of land which is subject to flooding or otherwise unsuitable for subdivision; and to promote and develop the utilization of land to assure the best possible community environment; and to provide adequate municipal services and safe streets in accordance with the development plan of the City of Eagle Pass, Maverick County, Texas.
