§ 24-7. Same—Auction, sale.

  • Upon such report being received by the city council, the governing body may, if such property is unclaimed, or if the cost of storage and care, and all other expenses incurred in connection with the keep, preservation or impounding thereof, including any other fees, penalties or charges claimed by the city, are not paid, order the same sold by the chief of police at public auction, after notice of such sale shall have been posted for ten (10) consecutive days in three (3) public places within the city and published once in a newspaper having at least weekly publication in the city, which notices shall describe the property to be sold and shall show the date, hour and place of the proposed sale thereof.
