§ 26-142. Collection and disposition of meter funds.

  • The city manager or his designee shall designate two (2) employees to collect the coins deposited in parking meters, pay stations and the traf-o-teria tickets deposited in the parking fine boxes located on some of the meter poles or any other locations designated by the city manager or his designee. Such person shall remove the coin canisters from the parking meters and empty the canisters directly into the coin collection box. Any coin canister that cannot be opened will be taken to the office designed to receive and count the coins where it will be manually emptied. All coins collected in the coin cart will be taken to the office designated to receive and count the coins, where the coins will be counted and deposited in the city account designated to receive such coins.

    The city manager or his designee will assign the finance department to perform audits of the individual parking meters and/or pay stations. The audits to be performed at least once per month. All keys to the parking meters will be kept at the office of public works department and it will be the duty of the person needing the keys to check them in and out of the public works department.
