§ 26-144. Notice of parking violation; form; misdemeanor to destroy.
(a)
The designated enforcing officer shall place a notice on the windshield (or upon the steering mechanism of any vehicle not having a windshield) of all vehicles which have violated a parking regulation of the city. Such notice shall be substantially of the form following:

Location:
For your convenience you may pay your fine by placing the sum indicated above in this envelope and dropping it in one (1) of the parking fine boxes located on some of the meter posts.
NOTE:
The charge of five dollars ($5.00) is made for each expired meter violation if timely paid within two (2) days of date of issuance and additional notices will be issued for each additional hour of overtime parking which shall be a separate offense. Failure to remit said fine within five (5) days may result in the issuance of a summons and added penalty.
(b)
Regardless of the disposition of the notice of parking violation or of the violation so noted or reported, it shall be unlawful and a distinct misdemeanor offense for any person knowingly or willfully to discard, mutilate, deface or tear, or to damage or destroy otherwise, either the original or copy of such notice, each of which, the original and the copy, is hereby determined and declared to be public property provided by expenditure out of public funds of the city.
