§ 16-85. Regulations

(a)

Beginning on the effective date of this section, the city will engage in a public education campaign to inform business establishments and citizens of the requirements regarding carryout out bags.

(b)

From April 1, 2016 until December 31, 2016, a business establishment within the city limits shall notify their customers through signage of the twelve-month period to phase out single-use carryout bags.

(c)

Beginning January 1, 2017, no person may provide a single-use carryout bag at any city facility, city-sponsored event, or any event held on city property.

(d)

Beginning January 1, 2017, a business establishment within the city limits may not provide single-use carryout bags to its customers or to any person.

(e)

A business establishment within the city limits may provide or sell reusable carryout bags to its customers or any person. A person may provide or sell reusable carryout bags at any city facility, city-sponsored event, or any event held on city property.
