§ 26-26. [Funeral processions.]
(a)
Funeral homes shall abide by the following rules and regulations for funeral processions:
(1)
Funeral homes shall have Texas Certified Police Officers escorts for all funeral processions;
(2)
It is the responsibility of the funeral homes to make arrangements with a law enforcement agency for police escorts for all funeral processions;
(3)
If the funeral home intends to use the services of the Eagle Pass Police Department, it shall notify the department at least two (2) days prior to the funeral escort and/or service;
(4)
Funeral homes shall have at least two (2) marked patrol units to assist with the traffic control at all intersections;
(5)
Funeral homes shall notify the Eagle Pass Police Department of the time and date funeral processions will take place and if horses or trail riders are to participate in a funeral procession even if the funeral home does not use the services of the Eagle Pass Police Department; and
(6)
All funeral procession participants must abide by the State of Texas Traffic Laws.
(b)
Any person who shall violate any of the provisions of this section or shall fail to comply with any of the requirements thereof shall be guilty of a misdemeanor, punishable by a fine not to exceed five hundred dollars ($500.00).
